The venerable 998 is hot right now, and though the kicks have been around for decades, this late 2015 renaissance of sorts is more than welcome. Here we see the Bostonian kicks decked out by none other than Boston’s Concepts sneaker boutique in a “Grand Tourer” motif.
The kicks draw inspiration from the Grand Touring cars it was named after, a class of luxury transportation that pairs speed and performance with comfort and elegance, something we are more than willing to put our feet into.
The perforated uppers and playful color-scheme cleverly interpret the European road maps, stickers and materials associated with whipping a European Grand Touring car through a long stretch of deserted highway under a mountain in your dreams.
That last part may have been a stretch but New Balance and Concepts definitely nailed the theme and these Made in the U.S.A. stunners are a more than solid Christmas gift to the sneakerhead on your shopping list. Nab your pair starting December 26th via Concepts’ Cambridge and New York locations, as well as a popup shop in Costa Mesa,CA and as always their online site.
