Disney’s D23 convention event held in Anaheim, California revealed a lot of news concerning their Disney+ streaming platform, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Pixar, and a whole lot about the Star Wars franchise.

D23 announced a lot of Star Wars news, like a trailer for The Mandalorian, a live-action series on Disney+, confirmation of an Obi-Wan series starring Ewan McGregor, a Cassian Andor series as a prequel to Rogue One, and a new season of Clone Wars. One of the biggest pieces of news to come from the event is a new look at the last Star Wars films related to the Skywalker saga – Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The new trailer starts off as a highlight reel of the entire Skywalker saga films, including scenes from the Prequel trilogy all the way to the last film, The Last Jedi, with a few new scenes from The Rise of Skywalker. The new scenes show some new characters, an appearance from Princess Leia, an epic battle between Rey and Kylo-Ren, a red-eyed C3PO, and ends with a look at dark Rey in a black cloak with a red dual lightsaber similar to the one Darth Maul had.

While specific plot points of the film have yet to be announced or shown, the film already looks like it’s going to be an emotional rollercoaster. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set to release this holiday season on December 20th, in the meantime take a look at the trailer below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for more details.
