Nike Celebrates the Air Max 90 with Three New Silhouettes

As the Air Max 90 celebrates its 30th birthday (something we all subconsciously dread doing), Nike has revealed new silhouettes to commemorate the iconic shoe. The collection features three updated pairs: the Air Max 2090, Air Max 90 FlyEase, and the women’s exclusive Air Max Verona.

The Air Max 2090 underwent an upgrade of futuristic proportions and was seen on the heels of Lebron James prior to its debut. The mudguard, cassette, and heel logo have remained similar to its original model while time-hopping 70 years with the opaque color blocking, a 200% larger air unit, a cropped Swoosh, and added textured heel details.

Still on theme with playing with time, the Air Max 90 FlyEase took on the shape of the shoe that debuted three decades ago, adding FlyEase technology designed to help athletes of all abilities get into their shoes quicker and easier. The leather, mesh, and TPU construction still hold their own while a collapsible heel feature adds functionality.

Last but not least is the Air Max Verona, one of the first women’s exclusives of the new decade. The chunky heel still boasts a sleek aesthetic with mesh toe boxes, leather construction, ornate stitch, and an interesting zig-zag stitched Swoosh (the purple colorway has a standard leather Swoosh). Heel wraps have taken a unique and extended shape and Air Max 200 sole units sit comfortably at the bottom.

The Air Max 90 FlyEase is set to release March 9th via Nike webstore. The Air Max Verona will be released via Nike Webstore and retailers on February 15th with additional colorways coming March 5th. The Air Max 2090 releases globally this Spring.
