We know, we know, it’s a little early to be thinking of St. Patrick’s Day plans and you haven’t yet recovered from Christmas shopping. Nike, however, is taking full advantage of early preparations with the release of the eccentric Air Max 97 “Lucky Green” colorway.

There’s no time to waste with this bold makeover of the beloved, retro silhouette that’s been dipped in shamrock-inspired hues and the heel tag is embellished by a golden glitter-embroidered “Air Max.” One special touch is what seems to be an Olympic-themed tongue tab that may serve as a tribute to international fans as Tokyo creeps into our sports radar.

The loud color takes over the entire upper, with the occasional updated gold accent, and the midsole features a reflective strip that’s native to this particular silhouette. The streamlined style is known to contribute to the narrow design but the full-length Max Air unit absorbs impact while the rubber sole offers traction, making for a great running shoe or day-to-day sneaker.

Feeling lucky? The Air Max 97 “Lucky Green” colorway is available now at select retailers, including Champs and Eastbay.
