‘Recess’ Live-Action Film

Popular ’90s Disney cartoon is set to get a live-action movie reboot, but instead of watching your favorite characters back in 3rd Street Elementary School, the gang will explore new adventures as teenagers.

Filmmakers Jerome Yoo and Kent Donguines have decided to make a non-profit fan film of Recess as the cast struggle with love, peer pressure, and their identities in high school. Here is a synopsis of the film:

Picture 10-year-old you sitting in front of the TV, watching TJ, Spinelli, Gretchen, Vince, Mikey, Gus, Randall, the Ashleys and the rest of the colourful cast at 3rd Street Elementary School getting up to their usual hijinks. You lay your head to rest that night and dream about being part of this group and then awake 20 years later and think: “Hey, I wonder what happened to the Recess gang when they went to high school?” Well, YOU’RE WELCOME, because we’re here to answer that question for you!

The independent production team has started an IndieGoGo campaign to fundraise money for this passion project. This is a fan film and it has no official connection to Disney or the original show itself and will be uploaded online for everyone to watch for free in August. For more information on the film or to help fund the project, head over to their IndieGoGo campaign website.
