Miami-based retailer Shoe Gallery has drawn inspiration from its city in this latest collaboration with Reebok.
Named after the Mariel boat lift that saw the mass emigration of Cubans to Miami in the 1980s, the “El Mariel” is the latest custom colorway to find its place on the classic sneaker. A combination of white smooth and perforated patent leather adorns the upper of the Ventilator while a bit of contrast in introduced in the form of a blue interior lining. Further emphasizing the significance of the shoe is an embossed heel that reads “El Mariel” and an ankle with the inscription “FL 305 US” in reference to Miami’s area code. While this shoe hit select retailers September 5, 2015, it is available for purchase online at Sneaker Politics with a price tag of $130.
