French clothing brand A.P.C. and Chitose Abe’s sacai are joining forces to create a collection that defies their respective norms, dubbed “INTERACTION#9.” The capsule features a range of pieces that are detailed with “SA.P.C.Ai” branding.

A.P.C., a traditionally minimalist brand, is going outside of their comfort zone in this collaboration by switching up from their usual back-to-basics mindset to sacai’s experimental approach. As reflected in sacai’s use of unique hybridization through juxtaposition, Chitose Abe always has a few surprises in store. Zippers detail t-shirts and multi-layered hoodies to create an eccentric touch, while added fringe to the white sneakers create multi-dimensions to the capsule pieces. The unity of the brands’ signature materials, nylon and denim, celebrates the uniqueness of this partnership within clothing items such as a jacket and jeans.

Jean Touitou, Founder of A.P.C., comments on the collaboration, “This INTERACTION is a precise illustration of how A.P.C. and sacai came together, interweaving diverse elements of language to achieve a sort of crossbreed that represents the style of our two brands. These pieces are unusual for us, as they push the limits of what we might call ‘wearability’ as far as possible. They are the fruit of a long process of creative deconstruction and reconstruction. We got enormous pleasure from seeing this clothing being taken apart and redesigned.”

The A.P.C. x sacai INTERACTION#9 collection will be available on March 19th online via apcstore.com, as well as A.P.C. stores.
