The Three Stripes have been updating their lifestyle catalog left and right, but their next release will look to basketball rather than running for its primary inspiration.
Dubbed the Niteball, the new model features all the chunkiness and stability of a 90’s adidas basketball shoe revamped for the modern streetwear scene (just like the similarly-named Nite Jogger did for retro runners). Massive three-stripes branding graces the sides of the shoe atop reflective silver and mesh paneling patterns. A suede mudguard and leather overlays provide durability and lockdown support around the eyestays, and a wavy lateral plastic panel gives way to a Litestrike foam midsole similar to last year’s Streetball model. The silhouette is tied together by what looks to be a flexible suede and neoprene heel tab for easy entry and a wide, playful tongue design.
adidas is debuting the Niteball in two bright colorways: “Collegiate Navy” sees summery creams, oranges, and yellows complimenting deep, cool blues, while “Pink Tint” showcases similar dark blues against gentle rose and wine hues.
The Niteball is set to release on adidas’ webstore on July 1st for $120. As with all new Originals silhouettes, it’s likely we’ll see more colorways down the road. Take a look at the new silhouette’s debut models down below.
