Life is a beach for adidas Originals = PHARRELL WILLIAMS. For Spring/Summer 2016, the sportswear leader and the celebrated musician hit the ‘Pink Beach’ with a bright, colourful, high-energy collection of footwear and apparel. Inspired by the magic of island culture, the apparel and accessories pair the musician’s signature artworks with the bold performance aesthetic of adidas to create a series of unique summer-ready looks.
illiams’ footwear designs offer chic, comfortable styles that speak directly to his island inspiration. The Elastic Slip On and Elastic Lace Up boast stretch patched-tape uppers and moulded nubuck heels. Both silhouettes come in a crisp white and a colourful variegated-stripe option with two sets of laces to each pair. All shoes include hyper-colour liners featuring psychedelic anatomical drawings of the human foot—a singular Williams touch that speaks to his imagination and creative spirit.
The corresponding communication campaign has been photographed by Viviane Sassen, born in Amsterdam and raised in Kenya. Her background and upbringing is a major influence on her work. For this campaign a group of models were shot through a mix of close-crops and far-away angles, arranged in almost sculptural compositions. Transformed into graphic forms, figures intertwine, with garments and landscape, creating something surreal out of the ordinary. Those interested can scoop up the pack over at Hanon.
