adidas Spezial has tapped English pop/new wave titans New Order for their latest FW20 release.
While adidas’ music collaborations usually tend to center around rappers and hip-hop artists, New Order seems like a natural fit for Spezial—the line makes heavy use of retro British football aesthetics, and New Order is without question one of the most important bands to come out of the United Kingdom.
The collection is comprised of a hardshell jacket, a zip-up track jacket, a tee, a jersey, and a set of Wilsy Spzl sneakers. Pieces incorporate co-branded logos with New Order’s famous 39 Tour geometric logo as both graphic and pattern, and the release’s outerwear jacket was inspired by guitarist Bernard Sumner’s love of yachting. Finally, the jersey showcases the number 586—a New Order track title—and _nwrdrspzl branding seen throughout the collaboration.
The New Order x adidas Spezial collection launches on September 18th via adidas’ website. You can take a look at the collection down below as well as a short film showcasing each piece set to New Order’s music.
