The Grand Opening of the Amway center in Orlando was today and with it, Modern Notoriety accomplice Zach, came across a few pairs of heat on display at the center. Here we have a look at Penny Hardaway’s game worn Air Foamposite 1 Royal/Black but if you notice, the ridges on the side are filled in with black and the rest of the shoe features the traditional Royal Blue. The pair’s ridges were blacked in by Penny due to league requests.

Maybe one day these will release as a Player Exclusive at HOH? One can only wish!

Also in the picture, The Shaq Attaq IV in the White/Black colorway.

  3. […] The new, 20,000 seat Amway Center hosted it’s grand opening the other day in downtown Orlando, Florida, attracting upwards of 40,000 fans eager to check out the new complex. As the home of the Orlando Magic, there was plenty of memorabilia scattered around for basketball fans to check out as they toured the complex for the first time, including a display showcasing the kicks worn by two of the greatest athletes to ever dress for the Magic – Shaquille O’Neal and Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway. Penny’s signature Air Foamposite One is the main focus here, with Shaq’s former Reebok Shaq Attack IV pictured in the background. Penny’s game worn Air Foamposite One started life like every other Royal Blue model, but due to requests by league officials, some changes eventually had to be made in order for him to continue wearing the sneakers during games. Complying with the demands, Penny blackened in the recessed areas throughout the Foamposite upper, creating his own personal colorway. It’s doubtful the sneakers will ever release in this specific colorway, but the good news is that the Royal Blue Foamposite One is set to return and that right there is good enough for me. 5. […] Were it not for the Charlotte Hornets, we’d most likely look back on the Orlando Magic’s as *the* early ’90s NBA jersey.  An ultrabrite blue was paired in high-contrast with black, with the logo and uniforms featuring a whimsical typeface that’s been gone for years.  And with the old Amway Center in O-Town also gone, it’s time to open the new O-rena, and there’s plenty of vintage Shaq-n-Penny stuff on display.  Perhaps the most intriguing artifact from the early days of Magic basketball very well might be this unique Nike Air Foamposite One Penny Hardaway PE.  The story goes that Anfernee himself asked that Nike do the Neon Royal Foam Ones with black stripes along the deeper ‘vents’, as per a league mandate.  Striped Foamposites to match a uniform with pinstripes, perhaps, but they’re a wacky sight to behold either way.  Check out more after the jump and let us know how these stack up to the single-colored Foamposite One/Pro releases.  via MN […]
