Original Story (07/06/21): In 2011, Jordan Brand released the Air Jordan 1 “Banned,” a version of the “Bred” Air Jordan 1 that featured red Xs on the heel as a nod to the NBA banning the colorway in 1985 for violating the uniform code (though real sneakerheads know it was the Air Ship that was banned, not the AJ1). A new Air Jordan 1 will be releasing in 2022 that also takes on this “Banned” theme.
This new Air Jordan 1, dubbed the “Rebellionaire,” features a color scheme similar to the OG Shadow AJ1, with black dressing most of the upper and grey hits used for the Swoosh, toe box, and rear overlays. The shoe also comes covered in text that reads “They Can’t Stop You From Wearing Them,” a reference to the “Banned” Air Jordan 1 commercial from 1985. Like the 2011 “Banned” release, these also feature red Xs on the heels.
The Air Jordan 1 High OG “Rebellionaire” is slated to arrive on March 2022. Stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for first look images and additional info.
