Air Jordan 36 & Series 01 Join Rui Hachimura’s “Black Samurai” Collection

Rui Hachimura made history in 2019 as the first Japanese player to be selected in the first round of the NBA Draft. The Jordan Brand athlete will soon be releasing his own “Black Samurai” collection, which features an Air Jordan 8 collab, as well as an Air Jordan XXXVI and Jordan Series 01.

The Rui Hachimura x Air Jordan XXXVI “Global Game” borrows many of the same traditional Japanese woodblock print art-inspired design cues from the Rui Jordan 8. The upper consists of an aged-yellow jacquard leno-weave upper along with cracked leather around the ankle, midsole, and eyestays. Touches of suede and red accents are found around the midsole, eyestay, and heel. Small details flood the silhouette, including the logo of Rui’s personal brand Black Samurai appearing on the tongue and heel. Completing the design are cherry blossom graphics on the translucent outsoles along with custom graphic insoles. The release also features a special flip-open box with a custom design.

In addition, a “Dear Rui” Series 01 is set to join the pack. The lifestyle model features a black upper constructed of mixed materials of suede and cracked leather. Rui’s logo appears on the tongue tag and insole, while text detailing on the lateral side panels reading “Dear Rui” in red in half English, half Japanese. The colorway also features woodblock print designs on the eyestay and tongue and sits atop an aged yellow sole.

The Rui Hachimura x Jordan “Black Samurai” collection drops on May 23rd on Nike.com, SNKRS, and at select retailers. Check out official images of the Air Jordan 36 and Jordan Series below.
