Original Story (03/04/21): Basking in the glory of Allen Iverson’s significant contribution to the Philadelphia 76ers arrival at the 2001 NBA Finals against the LA Lakers comes a revival of the Reebok Answer IV.
The Answer IV is in strong position as one of Reebok’s most popular silhouettes, even two decades after its original release. The zippered basketball shoe still holds its classic style, marking fond memories of its original athlete’s colorful career. This time around, the shoe upholds its hidden lacing system and DMX cushioning and comes dressed in its original red, white and grey color scheme. A red and grey “I3” are emblazoned on the midfoot and outsole, accompanied by an “Only The Strong Survive” message and illustrated face.
The Reebok Answer IV OG has popped up on DTLR’s release calendar with a March 12th release date and a price tag of $130 USD, though official release info is yet to be announced. For now, expect a release on the Reebok site and at other select retailers in the near future.
Update (04/01/21): Reebok officially announces the return of the Answer IV OG in celebration of its 20th anniversary. Catch them at Reebok and select retailers on April 15th.
As an additional celebration of the Answer IVs 20th anniversary, Reebok has partnered with sports illustrator Peter Richter, aka FloppyAction, to design a commemorative “Answer-Versary” trading card that pays homage to the iconic sneaker and Iverson’s 2000-2001 MVP season.
Limited to 199 units overall, 100 of the cards will be distributed via Finish Line, JD Sports, Foot Locker, Champs Sports and Shoe Palace, while 25 others will be distributed pre-release for premiere Reebok UNLOCKED members, while 25 more will be given at random to UNLOCKED members who purchase the Answer IV OG sneaker. 3 to 4 exclusive trading cards will be autographed by Allen Iverson himself, and have been set aside for the Reebok archive, future auctions, and an upcoming consumer giveaway. The rest will go to friends and family.
