Following the ASICS GEL-Lyte collaborations with COMME des GARÇONS and Sean Wotherspoon, ASICS is back with another offering of the GEL-Lyte III inspired by the Japanese delicacy: Kobe Beef.
The shoe’s premium leather is dressed in sakura pink with embroidered vector logos to resemble Kobe Beef’s marbling streaks. “GEL-Lyte III” is embossed in Japanese characters near the heel of the shoe and the shoe sits on top of an all-white midsole and a translucent outsole. On the bottom of the shoe is a butcher-like diagram of the GEL-Lyte labeling the sneaker’s various parts to nod back to the Kobe Beef inspiration. “19” and “90” are also embossed on the heel of the shoe, a motif which nods to the silhouette’s 30th anniversary.
The Asics GEL-Lyte III “Kobe Beef” releases March 1st for €220 at select European retailers. It’s unconfirmed whether we’ll see a stateside release, but catch a closer look at the Wagyu cattle-inspired shoe below.
