Dr. Martens has had a massive 2021 this far, releasing collaborative models with the likes of Rick Owens, Suicoke, CLOT, and Supreme in just the first half of the year. This month, the British workwear legends are continuing their hot streak with a three-pronged collaboration featuring Japanese streetwear staples BAPE and mastermind JAPAN.

The duo’s classic graphic motifs – mastermind’s skull-and-crossbones and BAPE’s shark mouth, respectively – adorn the sides of a 1461 Oxford, one of Dr. Martens’ most iconic low-top silhouettes. Notably, dual metal branded lace badges lay comfortably atop the bottom two rows of the 1461’s simple lacing system. While competing voices can overpower even the most famous of footwear models, Dr. Martens’ DNA is very much preserved in the shoe’s yellow stitching, ribbed midsole, and premium leather finish. Tri-branded midsoles and dogtags further emphasize the shoes’ streetwear influences, while black laces and classic heel tabs carry the rugged elegance of the 1461 through both brands’ impacts.

The BAPE x mastermind JAPAN x Dr. Martens 1461 is set to release for $230 on June 26th through the Dr. Martens website (8am PDT), BAPE.COM, and select third-party retailers. In the meantime, check out photos of the shoe down below.
