A Bathing Ape is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their iconic BAPE STA sneaker silhouette in 2020. The shoe released in 2000 as an homage to the Nike Air Force 1, replacing the Swoosh with the “STA” star logo on the side panels and other branding changes.
The wide range of colorways and designs made the silhouette a staple in early ’00s streetwear and turned BAPE into a world-famous brand. Various artists and designers collaborated with the Japanese streetwear brand to produce their own BAPE STA colorways, including Kanye West, KAWS, Daft Punk, and Virgil Abloh. For the 20th anniversary, the BAPE is releasing new, never before seen styles of the BAPE STA Low, as well as timeless classics that streetwear enthusiasts will be familiar with.
Colorways included in the 20th anniversary celebration include clean tonal looks in black and white, as well as animal prints such as leopard, zebra, and an “Animal Mix.” Get a first look at the 2020 releases below and expect many more throughout the year.
