Original Story (05/12/21): If 2020 was the year of the New Balance 992, 2021 is looking like the year of the 990v3. Revealed in Sneaker Freaker’s Issue 45 (which also revealed the Joe Freshgoods 990v3), is the Bodega 990v3, created in celebration of the Boston-based retailers 15th anniversary.
Following collaborations with Vans Vault and Dr. Martens, Bodega keeps its 15th anniversary celebration going by teaming up with New Balance on the 990v3. Dressed in an olive-based color scheme, the shoe features perforated suede on the side panels, along with the models standard mesh and suede construction. 3M reflective hits are found on the N logo and the panel on the back of the heel, the latter which also features “Made in USA” branding. The years “2006” and “2021” are also found on the heels, marking Bodega’s founding 15 years ago. Though the shoe features a neutral color scheme, there are some pops of color, such as the clay orange used for the top eyelets and Bodega branding on the heels, as well as the aqua sockliner.
