In 2017, Vans and Brain Dead teamed up on a footwear collection that featured three classic silhouettes — the Slip-On, Era, and Old Skool — as well as on two Dover Street Market exclusive colorways of the Sk8-Hi. Five years later, the two West Coast brands reconnect to collaborate on a new two-part collection.
The first drop of the Brain Dead x Vans Vault collection features the Lampin and Half Cab. The Lampin comes with all-suede construction with black on the toe box and tongue, forest green overlays, and blue on the side panels. Multi-colored eyelets adds a playful yet subtle touch to the silhouette. Rounding out the design is a white midsole with a forest green stripe on the foxing.
The Half Cab goes all out with the color palette. Uppers are constructed from a neutral off-white canvas, while the suede overlays come in olive green, plum purple, lilac, and black. Brain Dead branding is embroidered on the back of the heels. This pair also comes with multi-colored eyelets and is equipped with a black midsole with white foxing stripe. Laces for this pair come in white with Brain Dead print and solid plum purple.
The second half of the collection features the Authentic and Slip-On. Both styles feature canvas construction and a reinterpretation of the classic Vans checkerboard pattern that incorporates Brain Dead’s signature head logo. These pairs come with white midsoles with a light blue foxing stripe.
The Brain Dead x Vans Lampin and Half Cab will launch in-store on Friday, June 10th at Brain Dead Studios Brain Dead Fabrications in Los Angeles. The online release will take place on Tuesday, June 14th at 10am PT on the Brain Dead website.
The second drop of the Brain Dead x Vans Vault collection will be available on July 5th at 10am PT via Brain Dead in-store and online, followed by a wider release at select Vault by Vans retailers globally on July 9th. Check out all four pairs below.
