New Balance is finally launching its highly anticipated XC-72 model, and like they did with the 327, the brand has teamed up with Casablanca Paris for the silhouette’s introduction to the world.
We first caught a glimpse of the new model in Casablanca’s “Grand Prix” AW21 presentation. Dubbed the “sports car for your feet,” the XC-72 features a sleek, sporty body, though what caught our attention the most was the split sole unit. The medial and lateral sides of the sole feature their own tread pattern, each informed by heritage New Balance models, with a stripe running down the center. Overall, the shoe features a progressive design while paying homage to New Balance models of the past.
Casablanca’s XC-72 is offered in two initial colorways. One comes with pops of orange and green combined, a white perforated leather base, and grey suede panels, bringing back the color scheme used for the 327 debut. The second comes in a red and yellow Ferrari-inspired color scheme with a black rubber sole unit reminiscent of racing tires.
The Casablanca x New Balance XC-72 launches on the Casablanca website on August 27th, followed by a global launch via New Balance and select retailers on August 28th. Check out both initial colorways below. Expect inline colorways of the XC-72 to release in the near future.
