The NBA is back is in full force. To celebrate the league’s 75th anniversary season, Champion Athleticwear and the NBPA have partnered with James Wiseman on a limited edition “Champion Rewind” collection and initiative, inspired by the Warriors center’s journey to the NBA and the community of champions who helped him get to where he is today.
The story of Wiseman’s dream-turned-reality of being an NBA player starts in his own community. This is highlighted by the artwork by Memphis-based artist, muralist, and educator Jamond Bullock (aka Alivepaint) used on the collection’s Reverse Weave Hoodies and Heritage Graphic Tees. The colorful design showcases that every athlete is a map of “supporters and hometown heroes composed of parents, neighbors, teachers, mentors, and coaches who helped that athlete develop their love for the game by sharing their time, talent, and resources.”
Proceeds from this collaboration will be used to to award five community organizations with $10,000 USD each. Members of the community can nominate these “Community Champions.” Exemplary mentors, non-profit directors, coaches, and more can be up for nomination.
“A champion can be bred in any city – what it takes to be a champion is a community to help them rise up,” says Wiseman.
The full James Wiseman Champion Rewind collection will be available on the Champion website starting November 25th. For those ready to nominate their Community Champion, head to the NBPA website to learn more.
