CLOT Fall/Winter 2022 “Altered Beast” Collection

After dropping back-to-back collaborations with Jordan Brand earlier this year (the Jade 5 Low and Flint Delta 2), CLOT has now launched its in-house Fall/Winter 2022 collection, titled “Altered Beast.”

Altered beasts are mythical creatures that lie at the core of ancient folklore in every culture, such as the Chinese dragon and the Egyptian sphinx. Created by the imaginations of our ancestors, these beings are the result of artistic expression worldwide. CLOT’s FW22 collection delves into this theme because to truly understand a culture, you must first understand its art.

Embracing the distinct creativity in mythology across cultures, the collection presents a mix of animal prints in clashing colors. “It was inspired by the concept of explosive mixing and matching,” says CLOT founder and creative director Edison Chen. “I’m a history geek who loves Egyptian culture, one of the most striking images of that time is drawings of people that are four different types of things.”

The concept of mix-and-match extends to the campaign, created by visual artist Tetsuya Nagato. The artwork depicts Edison Chen and friends of CLOT, famed actor Yōsuke Kubozuka and model Kozue Akimoto, in a mix of human and beast form.

CLOT has also recently reunited with Japanese specialty carpet manufacturer Gallery 1950 (G1950) for a second round of limited edition CLOT Logo Rugs. After dropping last year in red/black, the duo now offer more playful colorways of the circular rug, one primarily in tan and the other in teal.
