Original Story (03/15/21): The recent re-issue of the CLOT x Nike Air Max 1 “Kiss of Death” is not all that Edison Chen and Kevin Poon’s CLOT have in store, as a new variant colorway of the model has been revealed, the “Kiss of Death – Cha.”
“After reflexology usually comes tea!” reads the caption on Edison Chen’s Instagram post teasing this second K.O.D. colorway. Drawing inspiration from cha (Chinese for “tea”), this Air Max 1 builds on the original K.O.D. concept, featuring the same see-through toe-box design and sole graphics as the recent reissue, though it now comes dressed in dark brown hues. The “K.O.D. – Cha” color scheme also appears to be inspired by an early sample of the “K.O.D.” Air Max 1.
The CLOT x Nike Air Max 1 “Kiss of Death – Cha” is expected to arrive as part of the Air Max Day 2021 festivities. Check out the teaser images below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for more updates.

Update (03/17/21): CLOT has officially revealed the Air Max 1 “K.O.D” – Cha. The colors are an ode to the different varieties of Chinese tea. Hugely influential and often a daily practice in Chinese life, tea is considered one of the “seven necessities of Chinese life” and has helped disseminate Chinese culture to the world.
The shoe features the same updated construction as the CLOT x Nike Air Max 1 “K.O.D.” with a brand-new perforated toe cap. The silhouette remains the same as the original release in 2006, with a deconstructed style and mix of materials including suede, leather and ostrich. The shoe features a Rocky Tan upper mixed with Sport Red on the Swoosh, CLOT-branding on the heel and lace eyelet detailing. Medium Brown is used on the midsole and upper panels. Finishing off is the same translucent outsole, with Chinese pressure points graphics as seen on the CLOT x Nike Air Max 1 “K.O.D.”
The CLOT x Nike Air Max 1 “K.O.D.” – CHA will make its debut at CLOT’s Fall/Winter 2021 “DYNASTY” presentation at Shanghai TX Huaihai Youth Energy Center on March 27th. A China-exclusive release through Greater China JUICE locations will follow.
