Last year, Converse introduced the CX line, an all-new design toolkit for a brand that prides itself on heritage. Much like the Jordan brand’s CMFT design ethos, the Converse CX design toolkit features re-engineered stretch canvas, highly comfortable dual-density midsoles, and reworked outsoles to deliver shoes that carry you with comfort, care, and a forward-thinking design language.

For Summer 2021, Converse has introduced three new CX Silhouettes that represent modifications of classics and all-new offerings for the city-dwelling commuter. Starting the pack off, the Weapon CX modifies the classic Converse basketball shoe into a platform, highly versatile high-top that wears its innovative components on its sleeve. The Run Star Motion, on the other hand, warps the already-huge platform of the JW Anderson-designed Run Star Hike into an even more aggressive Eytys-style behemoth packed to the brim with CX foam.

Finally, the Aeon Active CX is the most forward-thinking silhouette of the bunch. Speaking on the Aeon, VP of Design and Innovation Phil Russo notes that it “taps into a city lifestyle, being highly mobile and commuting on-foot place to place. We deconstructed those specific needs and married that information with inspiring nods to our past, and that led us to a dramatic expression of form, stance and comfort.” Of note, the Aeon Active CX is also the mystery shoe that A-COLD-WALL* designer Samuel Ross has consistently teased his reworking of via Instagram (to be released in late 2021 with mainline colorways to follow).

The Run Star Motion CX is available now via Converse’s website, while the Weapon CX and the Aeon Active CX are set to come later in 2021. In the meantime, check out photos of all three shoes down below.
