Converse Honors Latinx Culture With ¡Mi Gente! Collection

Converse – a brand that is known for making a statement through creativity, has released a collection that pays tribute to the Latinx community in honor of Latinx Heritage Month.

The collection consists of the Chuck 70, the Chuck Taylor All Star and two ruffle tops. The focal points of the capsule are represented by the diverse, duality, and vibrancy prints that are inspired by Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Mexico. One Chuck 70 features an all-over, color-contrast ¡Mi Gente! print which is a call to action and strengthens the beliefs of family and identity. A subtle detail found on the shoe is the Spanish letter “ñ”, which finds its home on the ankle patch.

Dropping alongside the Converse-created sneakers, the “¡Mi Gente!” By You is where customization allows for a unique take on various Converse silhouettes and features offerings from different artists in the Latinx community. Chicago-based artist Sentrock received his own custom Chuck Taylor, stating “This is dedicated to the kids who grew up not knowing where life will take em, but following a dream.” Along with Sentrock’s offering, there is a wide array of people from the community with their own shoe including professional skateboarders Felipe Oliveira and Louis Lopez.

The “¡Mi Gente!” capsule is available now on Converse’s website.
