Dr. Martens has seen its fair share of style evolutions over the years, starting out as a workwear uniform staple to becoming a hit of the underground subcultures of the ’90s. The footwear brand returned to its ’90s grunge era with its Heaven by Marc Jacobs FW21 collab, and is now reuniting for a sequel for Spring/Summer 2022. With this next collaboration, the two immerse themselves deeper into nostalgia, reinterpreted for the binary-defying, forward-facing generation.
Spawned from the imaginative vision of DIY artist and Heaven creative director Ava Nirui, the collection includes a reimagining of the classic Mary Jane shoe dubbed the Addina DS Bex. The Mary Jane has gone through numerous revisions and reinterpretations since the early 1900s, though it is known as the first shoe commonly worn by girl’s worldwide. Challenging conventional femme fashion, the Addina DS Bex is a rugged rework packed with ’80s attitude. Staying true to core design aspects of DM, the Addina features a 1.5-inch BEX outsole with a signature yellow double stitch and is finished off with Heaven’s double-headed bear logo on the buckle.
The Addina DS Bex is joined by an adjustable 2-strap version of the Ricki sandal. The sandal upper is constructed using supple black Brando leather on a lightweight 1.9” Quad Neoteric platform sole with signature contrast yellow stitching. Heaven’s bear logo appears on the silver clamp on the heel strap.
The Heaven By Marc Jacobs x Dr. Martens SS22 collection is set to launch on June 6th on the Dr. Martens website along with at select retailers.
