June Sanders does it again. Following last year’s “Varsity” and “Discover & Celebrate” 992s, DTLR is back with another New Balance exclusive in 2022, this time dropping a 2002R.
Dubbed the “Masquerade,” this 2002R draws inspiration from the mask mandates in our current society, honing in on the elements of mystery and versatility that a mask provides. Color blocking provides a “business in the front, party in the back” vibe, with most of the shoe dressed in neutral tones, black nubuck and mesh in the forefoot, along with grey foxing the wraps around the heel. Hiding behind the dark hues are pops of vibrant, festive colors reminiscent of Mardi Gras, including purple, green, orange, red, and blue. These are found primarily around the heels, though also on the tongues and tooling.
