Vans Vault honors Mexican artist Frida Kahlo in a capsule of premium sneakers. The collection takes on three classic silhouettes: the Sk8-Hi, the Authentic and the Slip-on, each featuring some of Frida’s most famous works.

The Authentic silhouette is fitted with a white sole and an all-over print of Kahlo’s still life piece ‘Viva la Vida’ depicting cut up watermelons and was reported to have been done a week before her death.

The Slip-on’s take on one of Kahlo’s self-portraits ‘Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird’. Here we see Frida wearing a thorn necklace that has a hummingbird as the pendant and a monkey holding up the necklace on Frida. The shoe is rounded off with a black heel and a black and red branding tab.

The last shoe of the collaboration uses another self-portrait of the artist ‘Las Dos Fridas’ on the side panel. In this painting we see two Frida’s holding hands, one in a traditional Tehuana dress and the other with more contemporary clothes. Both Frida’s have exposed hearts that are connected to each other. The print is complemented by a green leather upper and white sole and laces.

All three pair will be available June 29th only at select retailers. You can find a list of retailers at vans.com.
