Original Story (11/15/21): Following a few teasers, G-Dragon and Nike officially announce the release of the PEACEMINUSONE x Nike KWONDO1.

The name KWONDO1 (sometimes stylized as KIIIONDO) was derived from the harmony of taekwondo, Korea’s national sport, together with G-Dragon’s real name (Kwon Ji-yong) and the Nike slogan “Just Do It.” Just like its name, the shoe’s design derives its inspiration from a combination of sport and culture to create something new that transcends boundaries.

The white leather upper is covered in brogue detailing and comes with a wingtip toe overlay, typical of formal Oxfords and traditional golf shoes. Removable lace coverings, pulled from soccer footwear such as the Nike Tiempo, come with PEACEMINUSONE and Nike Swoosh branding. A daisy flower symbol, commonly used by the king of K-pop’s fashion label, is found on the heel and the outsoles. The all-white colorway serves as a blank canvas that can be paired with any outfit. There is also a F&F version limited to 111 units that features added pops of color on the Swooshes and a yellowed midsole (gifted to the likes of Kim Min-jun, KB Lee, and Hiroshi Fujiwara).

“I want to feel free with the way I wear and style clothes, in addition to everything else that I do,” says G-Dragon. “I hope that people can overcome stereotypes and feel free in their own way by wearing the Kwondo 1.”

The PEACEMINUSONE x Nike KWONDO1 launches globally on December 3rd on SNKRS and at select retailers. Check out the “Freedom in Flow” campaign imagery below.

Update (02/11/22): Following an overseas release in December, the KWONDO1 gets an official US release on February 25th via SNKRS and select retailers. Pairs are also available now on StockX, GOAT, and eBay.
