Original Story (09/23/22): After dropping the GEL-1130 “Earth” earlier this year, Australia-based HAL STUDIOS now reveals the second installment of its ongoing collaborative series with ASICS.
John Bouquet of HAL STUDIOS, the in-house design lab of Highs and Lows sneaker boutique, once again takes on the GEL-1130, this time in a darker color palette. Inspiration for the MK-II “Forest” comes from Japan’s lush forests and the Shinto shrines found within them.
features mesh uppers dressed in dark slate grey, while the overlays come in a mix of beige, black, and forest green suede, as well as brown leather. Orange accents add some brightness to the shoe, though very minimal, as they only appear on the hangtag, insoles, and the heel of the midsole. The shoes are offered with two pairs of socks, one in forest green and the other in brown.

Update (10/04/22): Ahead of its public release in 2023, the “Forest” GEL-1130 will be available via HAL STUDIOS’ Advance Order Platform starting this Wednesday, October 5th at 4am ET on the HAL STUDIOS website. Orders will be accepted for a 48-hour period, with the platform closing on Friday, October 7th. Successful advance orders will be delivered in Q2, 2023, ahead of the project’s public release. Production is limited to a certain amount, meaning once the maximum allocation is met, the platform will close.
