In the latest installment of the DREAMER franchise, J. Cole and PUMA are ready to debut the successor to the RS-Dreamer, first unveiled last year. The DREAMER 2 makes its debut in a “January 28th” colorway, named after the song on the album “2014 Forest Hills Drive,” which is also J. Cole’s birthday and the launch date for the new model.
The DREAMER 2 “January 28th” is equipped with RS PUMA technology that allows its wearer to perform at the highest level on and off the court. The shoe sits upon on a black base that stretches to the tongue, ankle and heel tab with a bright, mustard yellow upper for contrast. PUMA’s signature ProFoam throughout the midsole allows for rebound and energy return while the full coverage rubber outsole is enhanced for optimal durability and traction. Various textures and shades come into play throughout the construction of the shoe to round out the bold, fashion-forward design. An embellished “Dreamer” motif is found at the heel, a tasteful nod to Cole’s legacy and belief that dreamers have the power to move the world forward.
J.Cole’s iconic “2014 Forest Hills Drive” album cover has also been specially reimagined for the shoe’s release, capturing Cole on his childhood home’s roof in the fashion of the original cover. Instead of looking into the distance and toward the future, however, a more mature Cole appears to already be in domination of his dreams and aspirations, looking as if to beckon upcoming dreamers to be the next young Simba.
The J. Cole x PUMA DREAMER 2 “January 28th” will be available starting January 28th at the PUMA NYC Flagship Store, PUMA.com (10AM EST), FootLocker.
