Available today on the J.Crew site and at Onitsuka Retailers, is the latest and very first collaboration with both entities celebrating the 30th anniversary of one of Onitsukas most prized silhouettes – The Colorado Eighty Five. ONITSUKA TIGER: THEN
Founded by Kihachiro Onitsuka in 1949, Onitsuka Tiger was one of the world’s first sneaker brands and an early running-shoe innovator. Kihachiro used the Latin motto anima sana in corpore sano—or “a sound mind in a sound body”—to describe his design philosophy and later renamed the company with its initials, ASICS, dropping Onitsuka from the name. In 2001, Onitsuka Tiger relaunched as the heritage line of asics®, working to reissue some of both brands’ most iconic and successful designs, including the Colorado Eighty-Five.

In honor of the Colorado Eighty-Five’s outdoorsy vibe (it was released in 1985 as a trail runner), our designers created two exclusive colorways that pay homage to the rugged landscape of
