Jean Paul Gaultier x sacai x Nike VaporWaffle Launch Info

Original Story (01/21/21): In early 2020, the Jean Paul Gaultier fashion house announced that it would be giving Chitose Abe of sacai control over the label’s next Couture collection. That collection has since been delayed due to COVID. However, we now have a first look at a Jean Paul Gaultier x Sacai collaboration, a reimagining of the Sacai x Nike VaporWaffle.

This new version of the sacai x Nike VaporWaffle features a few notable differences to the four colorways that launched late last year. The most prominent difference is the thick fishbone-style stitching that wraps around the center of the upper. This stitching can also be found around the collar, which has been given an inch or two of additional height. This version also features a thick black leather construction unlike the mesh construction of the launch version. The dual arrangement of Swooshes and tongues makes its return, with Jean Paul Gaultier’s name added to the innermost tongue.

Two versions of the Jean Paul Gaultier x sacai x Nike VaporWaffle have surfaced, one with white stitching and the other with black, the latter believed to be a sample pair. Grab a first look at the three-way collaboration below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates on this potential release.
