After officially announcing his adidas partnership back in January, actor and director Jonah Hill will be releasing his first sneaker with the Three Stripes. Following in the footsteps of recent collaborators (Prada, Gonz, Pharrell), Hill is the latest to revamp the classic shell-toe Superstar in celebration of the model’s 50th anniversary.
Hill’s Superstar pays homage to the model’s connection to hip-hop, which started when Run-DMC adopted the shoe as a staple to their wardrobes. Back then, everything was big in hip-hop: chains, clothes, and even shoelaces. Hill incorporates classic fat white laces with black stitching in the shoe’s design, as well as big, puffy white Three Stripes branding on the sides. Other details includes dark green heel tabs with contrasting white stitching and “JH” lime green embroidery in Jonah’s handwriting. The word “SUPERSTAR” is also embroidered on the laterals.
The Jonah Hill x adidas Superstar drops on July 11th for a retail price of $140 on adidas’ website. Check out the shoes and official announcement video below.
