30 years ago, Michael Jordan led the UNC Tar Heels to win the National Championship in 1982. 30 years later, Jordan Brand and Converse collaborate on a box set to commemorate this history making event, that consists of a signed pair of Jordan x Converse Pro Leather sneakers and a signed UNC Jersey.
Thirty years ago on college basketball’s grandest stage, a game winning jump shot with seventeen seconds remaining birthed the legend of 23. It was the moment that Mike Jordan became, Michael Jordan. The moment that 23 became more than just a number. And the moment the world was introduced to the greatest to ever play the game.
To celebrate its 30 year anniversary, 30 limited edition commemorative packs each containing a pair of Converse shoes and UNC jersey were commissioned. Each numbered pack includes a pair of shoes and a jersey, both personally autographed by Michael Jordan. The pack will never be sold at retail. The Converse shoes are in Michael Jordan’s size, 13. A certificate of authenticity will be included.
All proceeds benefit the James R. Jordan Foundation. The James R. Jordan Foundation exists to strengthen families, motivate youth, ensure high quality educational opportunities and improve global healthcare.
Details of the Box:
Appearing on the top of the box is a Jumpman badge that is associated with winning and excellence. The interior of the box is lined with athletic navy fabric paying homage to the practice shorts Jordan wore under his uniform. Underneath the fabric, a cut-net rope pull tab leads to a mounted jersey equipped with a brass Jumpman logo and pack number. A piece of acrylic featuring the Jumpman and the phrase “30 years of 23” separates the jersey from the shoes. Mounted on lining adjacent to the shoes is a piece of acrylic with the practice short logo and the story of Jordan’s historic game winning shot.
