New Balance is putting in the work this season in terms of their collaborative lineup. As we await the release of more Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 550s, Japanese designer Junya Watanabe and his Comme des Garçons sublabel brings his simplistic and contemporary flair to the New Balance AM574 in three different colorways.
A twist on the classic 574, the AM574 silhouette, also known as the All Coasts 574, features an updated court-style sole unit, grabbing inspiration from coastal living for a trendy, laid-back vibe. A variety of materials are used as the shoes are dressed in smooth suede overlays, mesh in the toe boxes and ankle collars, and leather slivers towards the heel and on the ankle. Watanabe adds deeper personalization through details such as the addition of “Junya Watanabe COMME des GARÇONS MAN” written across the insole, and a notable stamp of the corresponding acronym “JWCdGM” on the pair’s midsole heel in bold black lettering.
