Junya Watanabe CdG MAN held its Spring/Summer 2023 runway show today in Paris. Similar to last season, the presentation of the new collection included a look at some upcoming Junya New Balance collabs.
Spotted on the feet of the models were various NB silhouettes, some new and some old. Some previous collabs such as the Junya AM574s from 2021 and the 670 and COMP100 from 2020 made their return to the runway, though we also got a first look at some collabs on new silhouettes.
The stand-out is the reveal of the Junya Watanabe x New Balance RC30, a collab on a new model inspired by the vintage NB 320. One colorway comes in a mix of yellow, blue, brown, and green, another is dressed in orange and burgundy, and a third in blue and navy. Also revealed is the Junya x New Balance Niobium, a hybrid sandal dressed in all black equipped with a Vibram midsole with JWCdGMAN branding on the ankle strap.
The NB footwear was paired with new apparel styles from the Japanese designer’s upcoming seasonal collection. The assortment centers around American pop art, with pieces featuring a play on Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s soup cans, as well as the works of Basquiat, Keith Haring, and Roy Lichtenstein.
