Kasina and Nike are reuniting on a second collaborative sneaker. Following their Dunk Low project in 2020, Nike and the Korean sneaker boutique are now teaming up on the Air Max 1, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Kasina as well as the 35th anniversary of the Air Max 1.
One of the two expected colorways of the Kasina Air Max 1 has been revealed. It features a burgundy leather toe box and tongue, orange suede toe cap, burgundy suede mudguard, teal pony hair quarter panels, a rich blue hue on the forefoot and heel, an off-white leather Swoosh, and grey suede around the ankle collar. Additional features include a flower on the mini Swoosh on the toe, Kasina branding on the tongue tags and wooden lace dubraes, an off-white midsole and icy translucent outsole.
The shoe appears to come dressed in the colors of a mandarin duck and even comes with a matching duck-shaped hang tag attached to a silver ring. In Korean culture, a traditional wedding gift is a pair of a mandarin ducks carved from wood, known as kireogi. For this release, Kasina uses kireogi and marriage as a way to represent anniversaries and the theme of “better together.”
