KCDC x Nike SB Apparel Releasing Alongside Dunk High

KCDC, the Brooklyn skate shop founded by Amy Ellington, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a collaboration with Nike SB. Alongside their Dunk High, the two are dropping an apparel and accessories collection as part of the celebration.

The KCDC Dunk High comes in a mostly pink color scheme, reclaiming the color used by the skate industry to “feminize” product and cater to women. The “shrink it and pink it” approach put a one-size-fits-all label on women skaters, when in reality, the community is comprised of a diverse plane of individuals. “We knew it had to be pink as a way to take back what it means,” says Amy Ellington. “It can be tough, pretty, and for everyone.”

The KCDC x Nike SB collection includes pink product, though used mostly as accents on the apparel. “Swoosh Devil” graphics appear on black and white tees, the same graphic found on the the shoe’s insoles. A “Bigfoot” creature appears on a black hoodie and grey tee, also appearing on the shoe’s F&F packaging. Rounding out the collection is skate decks, socks, mini KCDC Dunk keychains, and skateboard wax shaped to look like a 20th birthday candle.

The KCDC x Nike SB Dunk High (raffle) and accompanying collection drops on Friday, April 29th, on the KCDC website. The shoes will be available at skate shops worldwide on April 30th.
