After a prolific year for LEGO and adidas, the duo have announced the release of a classic adidas Superstar in two forms – both as wearable footwear and as a LEGO brick set.
The LEGO x adidas Originals Superstar uses many of the design cues found on previous LEGO x adidas shoes; plastic, brick-textured overlays compliment classic leather shoe paneling. The shoes’ Three Stripes, for example, are made of zig-zagging LEGO overlays with faux raised branding and block-ish panel stitching, while LEGO brick curvature takes the place of the Superstar’s hallmark rubber shell toe. A LEGO-textured heel tab and stitch panel compete the classic white-and-black colorway.
Meanwhile, the 731-piece LEGO adidas Originals Superstar 10282 is a full-fledged LEGO modeling kit that comes in a mock adidas shoebox. The set makes innovative use of LEGO’s signature geometries to recreate the Superstar’s curved edges, Three Stripes, and hallmark shell toe. The kit also features real laces that thread over the model’s tongue, faux printed “insoles,” and a display stand to look killer on your shelves.
The shoe form of the LEGO x adidas Originals Superstar will launch on July 1st via the adidas website for $140, while the brick set version will release via LEGO’s website on the same day for $80. You can check out photos of both editions of the shoe down below.
