Two global toy giants, LEGO and Hasbro have brought joy to millions of kids around the world. Now joining forces for the first time ever, the two bring another giant to life with the release of a fully-transformable Optimus Prime.
This collaboration not only marks the first product to be released in partnership with both industry-leading brands, but is also one of the first few LEGO sets that has the ability to transform without the need to rebuild. The 1508-piece set is modeled after the first generation Optimus Prime from the original 1984 Transformers toy line and animated TV series. The Autobot leader is fully equipped with his weapons of choice, the ion blaster and Energon axe. Other accessories include a LEGO Energon Cube, the Autobot Matrix of Leadership which can be stored in Optimus’ chest, and a removable jet pack.
Like the original, LEGO Optimus Prime can transform between robot and truck form. The alternate form is modeled after the Freightliner FL86 Cab Over Engine Truck, which was the original inspiration for Optimus Prime. The figure stands 35 cm tall in robot form while measuring 15 cm in vehicle form. To elevate this grand collaboration, the set also comes with a custom display plaque to pay tribute to the iconic Transformers character highlighting his role as Autobots commander and his attributes.

It’s been a wonderful and challenging task to bring him to life using LEGO bricks, especially making sure that he can shift modes without disassembly and stay true to his signature look and style.”
The LEGO x Hasbro Optimus Prime launches globally on June 1st on LEGO.com and at LEGO retailers. MSRP is $169.99 USD.
