Salehe Bembury Drops “Electrified” Capsule With Lexus

What do you get when you cross sports apparel Champion, luxury automaker Lexus and designer Salehe Bembury? A collection that challenges the mobility and design standards in both the automotive and fashion spaces.

Lexus and Bembury are continuing their partnership, first established with an LZ-F Electrified concept interior in April, with the help of the ever-familiar Champion to present a capsule that draws inspiration from the roots of each participant. Using Lexus’ commitment to electrification and Bembury’s passion for nature as the base of the collaboration, the result is a collection that the designer describes as a project that helped “explore design outside of footwear and allowed…to think outside of [his] usual realm of design.”

At the forefront of the presentation is the 2022 Lexus NX, a vehicle of reimagined, sustainable luxury. As for the apparel, a hoodie, T-shirt and hat all appear in the lineup. Bembury infuses his familiar elements such as his logo and fingerprint graphic. He then makes sure Lexus, both in brand and NX vehicle, take their place in the design as well with a fresh logo.

Electricity is the main inspiration for the collection. Reflective ink runs through the hoodie and T-shirt. Because of the push for technology-forward initiatives, archway shapes reflect the “pathway toward the future” on the front and back. “Electrified” is spelled across the back in a way that reflects the taillights on the crowned car. The ensemble sits on custom oil washed, dark grey dyed Champion Reverse Weave, which take after the Lexus NX exterior. An English and Japanese wash tag boasts the three contributors. As for the baseball cap, Bembury’s iconic fingerprint logo can be found on the brim, joined by another hit of triple co-branding and secured with metal buckle adjustments.

In a time when industry mash-ups are allowing leaders to join forces, the “collaboration merges different design disciplines to create a modern collection rooted in heritage for fans across the three brands,” said Jon Ram, Global President Champion Athleticwear. “As a brand that continuously pushes the boundaries of creativity, Champion is excited to work with Bembury and Lexus to elevate the conversation around design, fashion and technology.”

The Lexus x Salehe Bembury “Electrified” collection is available now exclusively at HBX.com in sizes S-XL with prices ranging from $50-$150 USD.
