Acclaimed Chicago visual artist Louis De Guzman is teaming up with New Balance to release an extremely limited 574 that benefits Soles4Souls as part of Footlocker’s COLLABORAID initiative to help families in need due to the pandemic.
Guzman’s pair is a standout in a long line of releases under the initiative’s umbrella. The gorgeous release makes use of the artist’s personal color palette and features sky-blue, dark purple, deep black, and rich grey suedes atop a white midsole and outsole. The model’s N logo comes in a rich red, echoing a dark pink tumbled leather heel tab and contrasting against a grey textured durable mesh toebox. The model is rounded out by a printed insole featuring Guzman’s work from his In Between the Lines series, a collection of works that (like much of his art) evoke his experience growing up as a second-generation Filipino American.
