Before the 2004 horror film The Grudge was released in the US, there was Ju-On, a Japanese horror franchise that launched in 1998 with the release of the short films Katasumi and 4444444444. Netflix will be expanding on the Ju-On franchise by releasing their own series based on the Japanese classic, directed by Sho Miyake.
According to a page that Netflix has set up for the series, “The J-horror classic franchise “Ju-On” was actually based on real events that occurred over four decades — and the truth is even more terrifying.”
Expect to hear the near deafening groan made famous by the Grudge films on Netflix in Spring 2020.
