New Balance Creates Two Made in UK 1500/991 Hybrids

0

It seems New Balance is feeling quite experimental. They’ve announced two drops with a twist, the 1591 and 991.5, two hybrid models that combine elements of the 1500 and 991 silhouettes.

The 1591 takes its upper from the 1500 and comes dressed in leather, suede, and mesh. It switches from cool to warm tones while maintaining the general shape and design elements of its original silhouette. The shoe incorporates panels of navy and muted blue while getting into a deep yellow and purple. Brown and grey serve as accents while leaving room for enough branding. The 991 comes in on the sole to give a traditional feel to the overall design.

An inverse hybrid with a 991 upper and a 1500 sole unit was also created, called the 991.5. The construction combines rich colors with muted tones. Grey takes over most of the upper, coating suede, mesh and leather on the side profile, base, tongue and forefoot overlays. Red, green, yellow, black and blue panels and detailing contrast the more mundane shades from the toe cap to the heel and nearly everywhere in between.

The New Balance 1591 is listed as coming soon on the New Balance website while the 991.5 is releasing on May 15th. Check out official images of both pairs below.
