The 2002R is one of New Balance’s top silhouettes, standing toe to toe with the like of the 550 and 990 series. After getting some shine in the “Conversations Amongst Us” collection, the silhouette is back in new hiking-themed GR colorways.
These all-terrain iterations of the 2002R come with hiking-inspired features such as Toe Protect reinforcement and hiking loops for the top eyelets. One of the colorways comes in brown leather with red laces, a classic hiking leather boot colorway. As revealed by an Instagram post by NB designer Yue Wu, inspiration came from the hiking boots featured in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. A second colorway comes equipped with a beige suede upper with purple and pink accents, and a third comes in triple black with green accents and purple laces.
A couple of these New Balance 2002R colorways are available now via NB Korea, though expect a wider release later this year. Check out official images of all three colorways below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
