New Balance introduces a modern tribute to heritage models from the brand’s archives in the form of a minimalist silhouette, the men’s and women’s 237. We first caught a glimpse of the reimagined design at Casablanca’s SS21 show. The New Balance 237 represents the next evolution of retro-modern footwear design and is rooted in the brand’s storied running styles.
Composed of a classic 1970 upper combining suede and nylon, the history of New Balance does not fall short in representation. A stitched and oversized N logo gives nod to the 327, enhancing nostalgia, while oversized and shifted paneling creates an asymmetrical look and feel. The outsole is a derivative of the original Comp 100 with scaled-up dimensions. The vibrant color palette creates the familiar-as-ever colorblocking as well as an easy wear aesthetic.
The New Balance 237 launches globally on February 6th via select retailers and newbalance.com. Additional colorways will be releasing throughout 2021 including the Casablanca collaboration. Stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for more updates.
