New Balance is launching a new colorway of the 992 which features a pattern that is eerily similar to the “elephant print” of Jordan/Nike fame.

This elephant print was first seen in 1987 when Tinker Hatfield was tasked to design the Air Jordan 3. Radical for the time, elephant print quickly became a fan-favorite as it gave a luxe look to the AJ3 and subsequent Nike models. New Balance is now adopting the print for the 992 adding it to the mudguard on an upcoming black and white colorway.

The New Balance 992 “Elephant” is available for pre-order now via Saks, expected to ship by October 17th. Retail price is $190 USD.
