Original Story (05/24/22): The KAWHI II officially joins the New Balance “Conversations Amongst Us” collection, following the release of the 550 and 2002R in April.
The “Conversations Amongst Us” collection was orchestrated by creative director Joe Freshgoods and was designed by a team of all-Black New Balance associates known as The Black Soles. The KAWHI II features a similar aged look as the other styles in the collection, equipped with a yellowed upper designed to look better with wear. The tongues read “JOE AND KAWHI (c. 2022) A NEW DAY,” formatted like the labeling you might find on a piece of art at a museum or gallery. Other details include a “cracking” design on the heels, an intricate FitWeave design on the side panels, and “Conversations Amongst Us” branding on the tongues and insoles.
The New Balance KAWHI II “Conversations Amongst Us” is now available via DTLR. Expect a wider release via NewBalance.com and select retailers in the near future. Stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
Update (06/01/22): Following an early release via DTLR, the New Balance KAWHI II “Conversations Amongst Us” officially drops globally on June 3rd on NewBalace.com and select retailers such as Finish Line and JD Sports.
