New Balance is celebrating the 35th anniversary of its 1300 model with the release of a premium Made-in-Japan colorway of the sneaker. The release will also commemorate the opening of New Balance’s T-House Concept Store in Tokyo.
This 1300 comes in the color scheme of the original 1300JP released in 1985. This colorway was first retro’d in 1995 and has been brought back every five years since then in limited quantities. However, this iteration is a more premium version, crafted in Japan instead of USA. The uppers were stitched together by artisan shoemakers and constructed from Japanese steerhide leather all paired together with durable nylon. The high quality leather is used on the liners and insoles, with a white midsole and finished off by a Vibram outsole with commemorative wooden shoe trees and a special box to complete the look.
The sneaker will be available via a raffle on HBX (beginning July 13) and New Balance’s Japan Webstore (open now for Japan residents). The retail price tag is set at 74,800 Yen (~$630 USD) to reflect its premium construction. Check out the detailed photos below.
